Chien-Jen Chen

Academician Chien-Jen Chen is an internationally renowned epidemiologist and global leader in public health and biomedical policy. He currently serves as the President of Academia Sinica, Taiwan's premier national research institution, and as a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Genomics Research Center.

His pioneering research on chronic arsenic exposure, viral hepatitis, and liver cancer prevention has made landmark contributions to global epidemiology and cancer prevention strategies. His work has significantly advanced population-based disease prevention and precision public health approaches worldwide.

In addition to his academic achievements, Academician Chen has played a pivotal leadership role in national and international health policy. He previously served as Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Premier of the Executive Yuan, contributing extensively to science policy development and biomedical innovation strategy.

He is an Academician of Academia Sinica, a Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS), and a Member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, reflecting his distinguished global scientific recognition.
