Sara Mangsbo

Professor Sara Mangsbo is a researcher, entrepreneur and translational immunologist working at the interface of antibody/peptide design, cancer immunotherapy and targeted drug delivery. She is Professor of Biologics at Uppsala University and has broad experience spanning academic research, therapeutic concept development and biotech innovation.

She holds a PhD in clinical immunology and has built her career around understanding and harnessing immune mechanisms for cancer treatment. Her research has included local immune modulation, therapeutic cancer vaccines, checkpoint-targeted strategies and agonistic immunotherapies, with particular focus on CD40-directed activation of antigen-presenting cells and anti-tumor T-cell responses.

Professor Mangsbo’s current interests centre on the development of multifunctional biologics and precision delivery technologies. Her work combines antibody and bispecific-antibody engineering with peptide conjugates and functionalized lipid nanoparticles to enable selective delivery of therapeutic payloads, including siRNA and mRNA, to relevant cell populations. A central aim is to translate molecular targeting into safer, more effective and scalable treatments, including approaches for in-vivo immune-cell programming.

Her representative achievements include contributions to the development of CD40-targeted immunotherapies and peptide vaccine platforms, advances in antibody-based targeted delivery, and the establishment of translational biotech ventures. She has published widely in immunology, oncology and drug-delivery research, and continues to contribute to the development of next-generation immunotherapies.
