Hyun Goo Woo

Hyun Goo Woo, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor in the Department of Physiology at Ajou University School of Medicine, Chair of the Department of Biomedical Science at the Graduate School of Ajou University, and Director of the Ajou Translational Omics Center. He received his M.D. from Korea University in 1996 and Ph.D. from Ajou University in 2001. He served as a senior researcher at the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (2004-2006) and a visiting researcher at the National Cancer Institute, NIH (2006-2010), before joining Ajou University in 2010. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of Genomics & Informatics since 2021. His research includes cancer genomics, multi-omics integration, biomarker discovery, and interpretable artificial intelligence. His recent representative senior-author publications include integrative transcriptomic and genomic analyses of MASLD and hepatocellular cancer progression markers (Hepatology, 2025, 2023), single-cell transcriptome profiling of stepwise progression in head and neck cancer (Nature Communications, 2023), identification of molecular subtypes of dementia using blood-protein interaction-aware graph propagational networks (Briefings in Bioinformatics, 2024). He received the Korean Society for Bioinformatics Onbit Award in 2022 and a commendation from the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2023.
