Biography
Professor Yuan-Han Yang, MD, MS, PhD, is a distinguished neurologist, neuroscientist, and internationally engaged researcher in the field of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and brain health. He currently serves as Professor of Neurology at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), Director of the Neuroscience Research Center at KMU, Head: Research Committee, Asian Society Against Dementia, and Distinguish Research: Industrial Technology Research Institute.
Professor Yang received his MD from Kaohsiung Medical College, followed by an MS in Behavioral Neuroscience and a PhD in Medicine from Kaohsiung Medical University. He further broadened his international research experience as a research scholar at the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, Washington University in St. Louis, USA, one of the leading centers for Alzheimer’s disease research.
Throughout his academic and clinical career, Professor Yang has pursued an interdisciplinary approach integrating behavioral neurology, neuropsychology, neuroscience, geriatric neurology, and dementia prevention. His research has evolved from the clinical characterization and early detection of dementia toward a broader vision of precision brain health, incorporating biomarkers, cerebral network function, digital medicine, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, wearable technologies, and personalized risk prediction.
His representative research contributions, more than 200 manuscripts and 5 books, include investigations of very early cognitive impairment and dementia screening, motor-cognitive interactions, cerebral coordination and clinical outcomes in Alzheimer’s disease, and technology-enhanced cognitive and behavioral interventions. His work has also explored innovative applications of virtual reality, digital biomarkers, artificial intelligence, and smart wearable technologies to improve early detection, monitoring, prediction, and personalized management of dementia.
Professor Yang has contributed to the advancement of dementia medicine through academic publication, interdisciplinary collaboration, education, and scientific leadership. He served as editor of the 2026 Springer volume Management of Dementia from the Preclinical Stage: An Update, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field from conventional symptom-based diagnosis toward preclinical detection, precision medicine, digital health, and proactive dementia prevention. His overarching vision is to bridge neuroscience, clinical medicine, artificial intelligence, and population health, ultimately transforming dementia care from late diagnosis and symptomatic treatment toward early prediction, personalized prevention, and lifelong brain health.
