Biography

Keng-Yen Huang, PhD, MPH, CPH is Professor of Population Health and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Affiliate Professor of Global Public Health at NYU. Her work focuses on improving mental health and behavioral health outcomes across the lifespan by combining prevention science, implementation science, digital health, and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Huang’s research aims to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and real-world care. She studies how evidence-based behavioral health interventions can be adapted, personalized, and scaled in practical, equitable, and sustainable ways across health care, school, and community settings in the United States and globally. Her work includes developing digital and AI-enabled tools to support early identification of mental health risk, strengthen prevention efforts, and expand access to care for children, adolescents, families, and frontline providers.

She has led or contributed to more than twenty federally funded studies over the past two decades, with projects spanning the U.S., Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, Nepal, and Europe. Her research has included personalized mobile health toolkits, digital behavioral health screening and intervention platforms, and implementation strategies to support workforce training and delivery of behavioral health services in low-resource and diverse settings. She also applies machine learning and AI-based approaches to identify risk patterns, guide personalized prevention, and improve the efficiency of behavioral health systems.

Dr. Huang’s work is especially relevant to current efforts to translate AI into responsible, human-centered, and scalable solutions for public health and clinical practice. Her presentation highlights how AI can be used not only to personalize behavioral health promotion and mental health prevention, but also to augment workforce training and support broader dissemination of high-quality behavioral health care.

Her scholarship reflects a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, health equity, and implementation strategies that ensure scientific advances can benefit diverse populations in real-world settings.

Dr. Huang received her BS in Clinical Psychology from Kaohsiung Medical University, her MA in Counseling Psychology from West Texas A&M University, her PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and her MPH in Global Public Health from New York University. She also completed advanced training in implementation science, prevention science, and quantitative methods through Washington University in St. Louis and NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
